How IB Biology Is Assessed Now

The IB Biology guide first assessed in 2025 changed the exams. Older past papers include a Paper 3 and option topics that no longer exist, so preparation needs to follow the current structure below.

Where IB Biology Marks Are Usually Lost

• Paper 1B data questions. Unfamiliar data, graphs and experimental set-ups reward careful reading more than recall.
• Command terms. "Outline", "explain" and "evaluate" each need a different depth of answer.
• The internal assessment. It is marked on four equal criteria, research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation, so the write-up after the experiment carries half the marks.
• Additional higher level content. HL students must recall pathways such as the Krebs cycle and the Calvin cycle in detail.

IB Exams for Singapore Students

IB Diploma exams are entered through your child's IB World School, so questions about exam entries or retakes go to the school's DP coordinator. Our role is the preparation: content, exam technique and guidance on the internal assessment, always within the IB's academic integrity rules.

How Lessons Fit a Singapore Week

Every lesson is live, 1-on-1 and online, with the same tutor each week. Sessions are arranged in Singapore Standard Time (SGT, UTC+8) around school and co-curricular commitments, usually on weekday evenings or at weekends. Parents receive monthly progress updates, and every new student starts with a free diagnostic trial session.
