Quick answer: Velocity Tuition Academy teaches students in Abu Dhabi and across the UAE live online, one to one, for IGCSE, A-Level and IB (MYP and Diploma), plus Digital SAT preparation for US applicants. Tutors specialise in Cambridge (CAIE), Pearson Edexcel or IB, lessons run in UAE time around school, and the first lesson is a free diagnostic.
Abu Dhabi operates under ADEK — the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge — which sets curriculum standards and conducts regular school inspections across all licensed international schools in the emirate. Unlike Dubai's KHDA framework, ADEK oversees a somewhat smaller but equally demanding school ecosystem, with a strong mix of British-curriculum and IB-authorised schools.
Abu Dhabi's leading British and international schools run Cambridge and IB programmes with very high academic expectations. The academic year follows the UK September–June calendar. For students sitting IGCSE Maths, Chemistry, Physics, or Economics in Abu Dhabi, preparation that keeps pace with ADEK-structured school timetables is essential.
Abu Dhabi's international school population is slightly smaller and more closely-knit than Dubai's, which means academic competition within cohorts can be intense. Students who want to stand out — whether for A* grades or competitive IB scores for UK and US university applications — need preparation that goes beyond what classroom instruction provides. Live 1-on-1 tutoring that identifies and closes specific gaps is the most effective way to achieve this.
The pace of Abu Dhabi's school year also means gaps can accumulate quickly if left unaddressed. Students in Year 10 who begin IGCSE support early consistently arrive at exam season with more confidence and stronger marks than those who start in the final few months.
Private and charter schools in Abu Dhabi are overseen by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK). Since January 2022 they have run Monday to Thursday in full with a half day on Friday, and Saturday and Sunday off. For families on Saadiyat, Yas, Khalifa City or in Al Ain, that usually means evening lessons from Monday to Thursday and longer sessions at the weekend.
Abu Dhabi has a high share of IB World Schools alongside British-curriculum schools, so we see as many MYP and IB Diploma requests here as IGCSE ones. Typical asks: MYP Sciences criteria B and C, IB Maths AA Paper 1 technique, IB Diploma Extended Essay structure, and Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry 0620 for students moving from the MYP into a British sixth form.
Because lessons are online, students in Al Ain and Al Dhafra get the same specialists as students in the city, without a long drive. Parents get a monthly progress report and can message their tutor's coordinator on WhatsApp.

Yes. The British Council UAE runs an exam venue in Abu Dhabi as well as Dubai, and some approved schools accept external candidates. Private entry suits home-educated students, students who changed curriculum (for example from the MYP to IGCSE) and students resitting a single subject.
Centres set their own deadlines well before the exam board's, so start the conversation with the centre early, especially for subjects with practical components. Our private candidate guide explains the process step by step, and IGCSE exam dates shows the sessions for the year.
Students in Abu Dhabi applying to US universities take the Digital SAT on College Board's Bluebook app at a test centre. The 2027 sittings are 6 March, 1 May and 5 June 2027, and 5 December 2026 is still open for students testing this term (College Board dates and deadlines).
