Why Cambridge Specifically

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (CAIE 0580) rewards method, not just answers. Paper 4 awards method marks for working that follows the mark scheme — even when the final number is wrong. Generic maths tutoring misses this. Our Cambridge specialists teach to the mark scheme from session one.

0580 + 0606 Together

Students sitting both 0580 Extended and 0606 in the same series get a single coordinated programme. Topics that overlap (functions, quadratics, trigonometry) are sequenced so 0606 deepens the 0580 foundation rather than duplicating effort.

What We Optimise For

The shift from B to A and A to A* in Cambridge IGCSE Maths is almost entirely a method and presentation problem — not a content gap. We diagnose exactly which presentation habits are costing marks and rebuild them topic by topic.

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics intake is limited per exam cycle so each student receives proper attention.

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics
0580 and 0606 — Every Component

We cover both Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics qualifications across Core and Extended tiers, with paper-specific preparation built around the official CAIE assessment structure.

CAIE 0580

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580)

  • Core tier — Papers 1 and 3 (grades C to G)
  • Extended tier — Papers 2 and 4 (grades A* to E)
  • Number, algebra, geometry, mensuration
  • Coordinate geometry, trigonometry, statistics
  • Probability, sets, vectors and transformations
  • Paper 4 structured technique and method marks
CAIE 0606

Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics (0606)

  • Functions, quadratics and inequalities
  • Indices, surds, polynomials and partial fractions
  • Binomial theorem and factor / remainder theorem
  • Trigonometric identities and general solutions
  • Differentiation and integration (introductory calculus)
  • Vectors in 2D, kinematics and rates of change
Pathway

0580 + 0606 → A-Level Mathematics

  • 0580 Extended is the foundation for A-Level Mathematics
  • 0606 bridges the IGCSE → AS-Level gap in calculus and algebra
  • Students taking both achieve smoother A-Level transition
  • Our 0606 graduates often continue with us into A-Level 9709
  • Free A-Level readiness check after IGCSE results
  • Same teacher continuity from IGCSE through to A-Level

Why Cambridge IGCSE Maths Students
Drop From A* to B Despite Practice

Working not shown. Students write only the final answer. Paper 4 method marks are forfeited. A* candidates frequently drop to A this way.
Past papers from the wrong era. Cambridge revised 0580 in 2020. Pre-2018 papers test slightly different content. Students practise material that no longer appears.
Calculator dependency on Paper 2. Paper 2 (non-calculator on some series, but not 0580) — students misread the rubric and fumble basic arithmetic under pressure.
0606 started too late. 0606 covers calculus and advanced algebra in 6–8 months. Students who begin at the start of Year 11 alongside 0580 struggle to consolidate either. We sequence them properly.
Mark scheme language gap. "State", "show that", "hence", "deduce" all carry specific Cambridge expectations. Students who give correct maths but not in the demanded form lose marks for presentation.
Paper 4 time pressure. Paper 4 is 2 hours 30 minutes of structured questions. Students who haven't done timed full-length practice run out of time on the high-mark final question.

Four-Stage Preparation Framework
Built Around CAIE Assessment Structure

01

Diagnostic on Real Paper 4

Free trial begins with a real Paper 4 question or two — not generic problems. We see exactly where method marks are being lost on Cambridge-style questions.

02

Spec-Sequenced Topic Coverage

Topics covered in the order Cambridge specifies, with 0580 Extended topics interleaved with 0606 where they overlap (e.g., quadratics, trigonometry).

03

Past Paper Cycles by Topic

After every topic block, we work through topic-filtered past paper questions from the most recent five Cambridge sessions. Mark scheme correction is part of every session.

04

Full Timed Paper 4 Mocks

In the final 6 weeks, full timed Paper 4 (and Paper 2) mocks under exam conditions. Two untouched recent sessions are reserved as the final mocks before the real exam.

Cambridge IGCSE Maths Tutoring — FAQ

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 is the core IGCSE maths qualification taken by most students. It has two tiers — Core (grades C–G) and Extended (grades A*–E) — and is assessed by Papers 1–4. 0606 is Additional Mathematics, a higher-level course often taken alongside 0580 by students intending to study A-Level Mathematics. 0606 covers calculus, vectors, and advanced algebra topics that bridge the gap into AS-Level.
Students aiming for A-Level Mathematics, Sciences, Economics, Engineering or any quantitative degree path should sit Extended (0580/4). Core (0580/3) caps at grade C and closes off most A-Level routes. If the goal is any competitive university, Extended is the default. We help students assess realistic readiness during the free trial session.
Paper 4 is the structured, multi-mark question paper that decides A and A* grades. We focus on three things: full method working (Paper 4 awards method marks even when the final answer is wrong), recognising the standard question archetypes (probability trees, ratio splits, locus, transformation, calculus-light questions), and timed practice with mark scheme correction after every set. Students typically practise 12–18 past Paper 4s in the final preparation window.
Yes. 0606 is one of our most-requested specifications. We cover the full syllabus including functions, quadratic theory, indices and surds, factor and remainder theorem, binomial theorem, trigonometry (including general solutions), differentiation and integration, vectors, and kinematics. The course is often taught alongside 0580 Extended in the same exam session.
A student starting fresh (no prior structured study) needs 9–12 months for 0580 Extended and 6–9 months for 0606 if they already have 0580 covered. Students consolidating school learning typically need 6–9 months of structured tutoring. Students cramming in the final 6–8 weeks rarely move from C to A*, though Cs to Bs is achievable.
For 0580 Extended, we work through May/June and Oct/Nov papers from the most recent six exam sessions (3 years), with the most recent two sessions reserved as untouched mock papers for the final fortnight. For 0606, the last 5 years of papers cover all syllabus variations. We avoid pre-2018 papers as the 0580 syllabus changed in 2020 and earlier papers test slightly different content.
